Upper Extremity Specialists of Ortho 1 Medical Group in La Jolla and Chula Vista, California, is lead by Kristopher Downing, MD, along with his office, surgery center and hospital staff, who work together to provide advanced surgical and nonsurgical treatments for upper extremities, including the hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Dr. Downing provides general orthopedic care as well but has a focus and strong interest in orthopedic care of the upper extremity.

The physicians of Upper Extremity Specialists are members of Ortho 1 Medical Group, a private practice orthopedic group in the San Diego area. Dr. Downing, and his team diagnose and treat a wide range of upper-extremity injuries, trauma, and diseases. They offer highly customized, expert care that may include conservative nonoperative orthopedics, reparative orthopedics and/or meticulous orthopedic surgeries—with surgery reserved for those patients that have tried all other nonsurgical treatments or if surgery is the most prudent option.

The team at Ortho 1 Medical Group also offers sports medicine diagnosis and treatment to athletes of all abilities, from students to professionals. They work with patients to help them recover rapidly and safely so they can return to their sport with a low risk of future injuries.
